I’d just like to offer a warm welcome to all the players who have bought into the pre-alpha phase of development over the last few weeks.
Through the weirdness of the internet, Atomic Society is having a moment of popularity on Youtube.
I don’t know why! We haven’t done any marketing or reached out to a single Youtuber but it’s happening. Every video made so far has been from someone who actually bought the game and it snowballed. As a result, over the last few weeks, hundreds of new players who wanted to test their skill at being a wasteland mayor have come aboard. I've even had to delete the Youtube video thread as I can't keep it updated. The game seems to selling itself, which is pretty much the most delightful and humbling thing you can see happen as an indie developer.
So to every single player who has bought the game this early, everybody on the team is bewildered and flattered by your support and praise. And also slightly terrified! We are trying to keep under the radar for a reason as we know Atomic Society still has a long way to go, and a lot of updates to come. Popularity can hurt an indie game until it finds its feet.
It also means is that for the next week or so (until I fully expect all this fuss to die down) I’m rather swamped with emails and messages and might be a little slow replying to some people. We do have juggle game development with tedious day jobs and making new content for AS, so there’s a lot to handle. But please rest assured every single message/post we receive in any form is read and thought about even if it we can’t reply.
Nothing gets overlooked.
So again: welcome players, new and old alike. I really hope you enjoy seeing the game mature and age bit by bit, over time. Thanks for taking a leap of faith on us.
