1. Dining room It is a settlement, every settlement has dining room where all come to eat. Also some food will be stored there and the cook has to bring it all in and make food. Of course people should be able to live without it just like in reality they would.
2. Unexploded munition / war zone. It is possible that bombs fell in middle of some fighting actions, it would be cool to find a battle field! Salvage ammo and weapons in exchange for some deaths due to some shell thew went off.
3. Using natural resources? Why only salvage? Why i can salvage street lamp but not the tree next to it? How about some industry? Mining and creating bricks or metal.
4. Building - terrain too clunky. Why all buildings must be on a total flat ground?
5. Technology. Salvage motors and car parts for electricity. To use for healthcare and defense. Medical electric equipment maybe?
will have more ideas!

Body disposal thoughts:
Why must the player be limited to cremation and why are the colonists not simply burying the dead?
I find it hard to believe that constructing a bloody great oven would be easier than a hole in the ground, especially if the deceased had loved ones.
Could not the bodies be exhumed for study provided the player's settlement had the facilities (ex. Hospital) to do so? Would not allowing for such a dynamic make such things as innoculation/public health, criminal justice, and last rites enrich the societal aspects of the game?

We went with a crematory first over a graveyard to enhance the industrial, depressing mood of the game and to separate it from all the medieval town building games out there. I have actually thought about adding a corpse pit "building" in the past, as a lower-level place to get rid of the dead. We might add that in one day but it's not going to happen for a while. The new Elder's End building in 0.0.9 offers a dignified burial in its central catacomb though (if you read the building description), as we wanted this to be the "good" way to end a survivor's life if they make it that far, so technically burial is in now. Deciding whether or not to let people research on the dead at the risk of social downsides is a neat idea, and one I'll definitely consider as we add more and more issues.

This is my first post, and I am not a pre-alpha player yet. I am considering getting it on steam once it's out, but I have seen some footage on youtube on how it looks and plays, and I really can't tell what each building does that is placed down. Some I suspect to be farms or workshops, others could be homes or storage buildings. For someone who doesn't play the game, it is hard to tell what building does what. For me at least. My first suggestion would be to make that more obvious.
Farms need to be in there if they aren't already.
Also walls and doors to keep out raiders and dangerous animals.
Will Politics be a feature in the game? Is it already? If so, how is it implemented?
If I build a Society that tolerates vegetarians, encourages breeding and executes pedophiles, which I would like to do, will other factions go to war against me because they think pedophilia is a good thing?

There's livestock ranches and greenhouses already (and the ability to find salvaged tinned food, etc), with more food related buildings come in later versions. You use watchtowers and weapon smith's to keep out raiders. I'd like to put walls in one day but they aren't technically needed, as you don't actually see the raid happen, you just deal with the aftermath of it. Crime and punishment is in the game, and religion is coming soon. We might add more overtly political choices later on. There aren't factions in the game or paedophiles. If people don't like the laws you've set, they ignore them until you arrest them or (when religion is in the game) convince them.

Thank you for answering me. I thought that if stuff like homosexuality is in there, and it is possible to build a society that executes gay people... Well, maybe this is something you will add down the line. Visible raids, being able to raid NPC communities, going on full blown tribal wars... Maybe in expansions after full release? About Pedophilia, an argument can be made for it being something in the future. Some people argue that Islam, a real-life religion, actually encourages pedophilia, since Mohammed married a six-year-old and many Muslims still marry 9-year-olds legally. Different cultures, different values. And Religions are a defining factor of culture. And even in the US, some people demand that Pedosexuality should be officially recognized as a sexual orientation. Among Germanic Tribes, Children were the most valuable thing the tribe had, as they were considered the Future of the tribe. Anyone who knowingly and willingly harmed a child was executed. So it is a social issue. With breeding in place, family policies seem like the next logical step. I'll bring some examples of how they differ across the board. Ancient Sparta took the children from their parents at a young age and they were raised by the state. Most Boys had to learn how to fight and were soldiers before being allowed to do anything else. The west had the Idea that women must be housewives and caretakers for the children while men bring the money home to fund the family for a long time until very recently. Now, single moms and children who don't know who their father is are getting more common. Those things are issues that could very well be addressed. Raising a child takes time and resources, that could also be invested in a job.
Sorry for my wall of text. Hope you understand what I'm saying.

No problem. I understand what you're saying. There's still a long way to go with Atomic Society and more social issues will definitely be added in over time. The citizens have only just gained the ability to have sex (with abortion and homosexuality coming to the next version) so it's early days still for that side of society. Gender roles is definitely something I'm interested in including in the game if we can find a smart, fun and practical way of doing it later on. Not sure if we'll expand the raiding system much as I don't want the game to become too combat focused (it's more about your own society) but we'll see. We have to be careful of keeping the game focused given our small team size.
