Thanks to everybody who has bought and supported the game with feedback, comments and bug reports. We're a small first-time team, but we're doing our best to work through them all.
Known Major Bugs:
We're aware of the bugs below and will try to fix them in a future update. If you find anything new, please make a new discussion about it.
• Game crashes on startup. A tiny percentage of players report that game crashes when they load it. We believe these might be to do with the Unity game engine we use and specific hardware configurations. We're looking into these errors but please don’t hesitate and refund the game if you get them as this is a very obscure and hard to pin down issue and might take us a little while to resolve.
• Some path finding issues, citizens taking weird routes, etc. We'll polish this over time.
Common Questions:
• Translations: We’re going to start translating the game in 2019. Sorry we can't do it sooner but it will happen.
• Linux/Mac versions: We want to do it in theory, but something we’ll review when the game is close to leaving Early Access. Check back later.
• Other Stores/GOG: Definitely would like to do this but need to get the game in a more polished state first, and Steam’s Early Access program is best for that right now.
• Mod Support: Also would like to do this but depends on the game being financially viable as it will take a good while to do.
Common Feedback:
• The camera. We definitely agree it needs some polish and have a redo of it coming in a future update.
• Buildings needing repairs too often and crematories not picking up corpses quickly enough. This one is going to take some deeper thought as players have managed to build large settlements using only 3-4 crematories and repair shacks (as we intend) but other people are having problems keeping up with all the bodies and repairs. We’ll look for a solution that maintains the game’s difficulty while taking out some of the micro-management.
• Storehouses filling up, being forced to destroy good loot, etc. There’s a trade system in the works which will eventually solve this issue. Letting you destroy goods is just a stopgap solution for now.
• Graphical quality. We will probably add more polish, video options and new animations towards the end of the game but our budget/team-size is very limited for this, and we prefer to focus on gameplay over graphics for now.
• Lack of mining and tree cutting. For the time being we're just focusing on different ways of getting resources through salvaging (and bartering in future versions) to try and expand the post-apocalyptic theme. but there are more buildings/features coming that will enhance this and we're exploring all options.
Possible Roadmap Features:
We don't like to talk about features until we've actually started working on them to avoid disappointment if those features get cancelled or drastically changed, but rest assured Atomic Society is just at the start of its Early Access journey and there's a lot more we intend to add to it over the next 12 months or so.
Here are some of the things we're looking into...
• Government choices.
• Weather and/or map specific gameplay effects.
• Day/night cycle.
• New types of buildings - more advanced food, industry, and resources, etc.
• A trade system.
• Making the laws you pick have more social impact.
• More story elements and things to do or find in the wasteland.
• Adding more depth to the leader system.
