Version 0.0.4 is now available to download via the Humble store. Use the link in the email you received when you bought the game to be taken straight to the download.
As mentioned we've decided to put out 0.0.4 without save game support. Save games are coming soon but some complicated bugs mean we don't want to risk putting it out there yet. But there's lots of improvements to the game that we want to get them out to you all in the meantime. All the patch notes below are included in the new version except the parts I have crossed out, which unfortunately have been delayed by bugs.
Atomic Society Pre-Alpha Version 0.0.4 Patch Notes
--------------------------------------------------
- Saving and loading has been introduced. You can now save your cities and come back to them later as with most normal games and grow your settlement over time (Note: save game compatibility cannot be guaranteed between versions yet but we'll try to minimise that.)
- It is now possible to cancel constructions before they are finished (and be refunded the building materials) or demolish them once the building has been constructed. To do the latter, click on the info tab of a building once it has been built and click the appropriate button.
- A stats screen has been added to the game. To unlock it you must build a town hall and then left click on your town hall and click on the stats screen (or just press T when your Town Hall is built). This will show you how many starving, homeless people you have, how many engineers, and various other useful bits of info.
- Added naturally flowing cloud system to the game.
- You can now pause the game by reducing game speed to 0.
- Right clicking on a citizen will now tell you more detailed information on what they're doing (e.g. seeking food, etc)
- Tutorial Mode now included. Enable it when you make a new game or press the question mark button (top left corner) to access it in-game. It is suggested that even experienced players go through this tutorial once.
- Your Town Leader now starts the game with 3 of each building resource in his or her inventory so you don't need to salvage so much to get started. Remember to deposit the materials in your storehouse.
- The T key opens and closes the Town Hall interface when built and the I key now opens and closes the Storehouse inventory interface.
- Fixed glitching idle animation
- Game no longer supports resolutions below 1280x720 in order to improve compatibility.
- New loading screen tips added.
- Improved certain building textures.
- Improved citizen animations so they longer glide along the ground.
- The rate citizens murder each other has been reduced. This should make it easier to build a large population.
- Improved the UI when you click on a construction zone, adding shortcut buttons to let you do what you want to more easily.
- New depth of field effect has been added to all scenes, improving their appearance.
- An experimental 32-bit Linux build will be officially included in the download folder for those who want it.
- When you click on a worker in a building's employee menu, you can now rotate the camera around as the camera follows a worker and track them as they live their life.
- Gameplay tweak: Builders no longer need to pick up resources from the storehouse for a construction to begin. This will speed up construction in general and means you can always solo-build a construction as your town leader without having to wait for other helpers.
- Updated and improved the visual appearance of the UI in several ways, especially the "parchment" texture and the front-end menus.
- Substantial lighting and texture changes to the Forest level.
- Canyons level is now finished and ready to build cities on.
- 2 new music tracks added. Tracks also added to special edition customer's soundtrack download.
- Some minor framerate/performance boosts
- Changed how the debuff icons appear for citizens to make it more realistic and understandable. It used to be the case that a citizen would get the "Dehydrated" debuff (for example) as soon as they wanted a drink - not when they were unable to get one. A citizen will only get a debuff now when they are unable to fulfil their needs for some time. This should make it clearer who is struggling in your town.
- Cattle models have been added to the livestock ranch.
- Certain ruins have had their appearance improved.
- More special edition customer's names have been added. Remember to email us at farroadgames@gmail.com if you haven't submitted yours yet!
- Build menu descriptions have been re-written to give them more flavour.
- Added a ruined bus to certain levels.
- Various bug fixes.
