I just came across the Steam page for this title, and once I watched the trailer, and viewed the screenshots, I knew I had to purchase and help support the team. This is a game concept that needs to be completed!
In addition to the above, I am pleased with the progress that has been on the game so far.
As an aside I am a writer nad have written a few things based in a Post-Apoc Earth. Hopefully tyou fine folks would not mind me posting some of my stuff on the subject of a post apoc world.
Below is a small sample of my writings. It is from the prologue of one of my stories. I hope you enjoy the teaser. After making this post I am going to dive straight into the game!
As the superpowers exchanged nuclear gifts the rest of the world joined in. Ages old scores were settled, using the war as an excuse.
The Chinese missiles had just begun to impact on the US when the other missiles were fired. The first targets in America were the bomber and missile launching points, so that any remaining military strength could be destroyed with ease.
As these missiles fell, others began to target on population and manufacturing centers, with devastating results.
It was found that a number of the missiles targeting civilian areas were carrying biological warheads. These missiles contained virulent, man-made diseases that were designed to decimate the population, leaving the buildings, along with the war materials, intact.
All in all, it had been a really, really lousy day for humanity. Moreover, it would only get worse.
Due to the destruction of the transport systems and the spread of nuclear induced fires, food became scarce and famine began to stalk the land, slaying at will. The dead, many of which were left unburied and hidden by tons of rubble and debris, began to decay, and gave what vermin that survived a ready source of food.
Fed by rotting meat these disease-ridden rodents began to breed at a prolific rate, running rampant with their numbers. They spread the deadly bacilli they carried in their diminutive frames to the four corners of the Earth.
Starvation and disease took their toll as hundreds of millions of people fled the destroyed and irradiated cities, escaping the perils of the demolished cityscape. Where they gathered huge shanty-towns sprang up out of the wilderness.
Unfortunately, they were either unable, or unwilling, to organize anything resembling the society that had just been destroyed. Moreover, such basic needs as clean water, good food, and sanitation were ignored.
Human waste polluted the areas, and diseases such as cholera and dysentery reared their ugly heads, adding to the misery in which mankind had already placed itself.
As the water became polluted with human waste cholera epidemics rose to epic levels, slaying people by the tens of millions. The bane of Mankind once again proved why man feared cholera far more than bubonic plague and smallpox combined.
Radiation from the fallout produced by the detonations of intentionally dirty bombs rendered hundreds of thousands of square miles uninhabitable. However, it also increased the background radiation levels to heights that had been unimagined by even the most pessimistic of physicists.
Entire Nations that had been untouched by the bombs and fallout had been wiped out simply due to radiation sickness brought on by the increased background radiation.
Survivors found that the medical centers were swamped or destroyed, so the death toll from disease and injury began to climb. Within six months, ninety-five percent of the world’s population was dead.
Out of almost twelve billion people, only a few million were left alive, scattered around the globe in small groups. Those who remained were characterized by being self-centered, selfish, and guided by man’s baser instincts.
As time went on, civilization’s thin veneer was stripped away by man’s desire to survive at any cost.
Cheers, Thor
EDIT: I just noticed, I need my Founder title.
