Ok first off - no I don't expect this to be added for a long time - but I used to work with game companies and still work on mods so I know its something that needs to be considered early so it can be added into the game in stages without messing around with the code like a kitten with a ball of yarn later on
however all that said this game looks like allot of fun and from what I've played is pretty fun - but as time goes on a good mod community can turn a 50-100 hour game into a 500+ hour game that people keep recommending years from now - and having a staff of free labor building and adding things in doesn't hurt
I mean to use 2 examples planet base good game pretty fun 30 hours in did everything uninstalled occasionally reinstall it - has mod support for maps that was nice got me another 15-20 hours - rimworlds major mod support still in early access 300-400 hours (maybe more) and still going to keep search new mods out - like loaded a bunch of mods that turned my stranded on a alien world game into fallout tactics with power armor and radiation dangers - then I swapped it out for cthulu and zombie invasions for a completely different feel - it really also shows the love of a game when I look at the workshop / nexus and see thousands of mods added with loving dedication or some new mechanic that makes the game completely new I've often bought games simply cause of mods and I think it would really add to the player base (and sales lols) as well as actual game itself
yes I know its allot of work why I tossed it out there I think it could be a big deal LATER on but it really should be considered - honestly I'd almost consider in a sandbox city builder game for it to be a mandatory function these days I know not all agree but think back on all those mods you keep going back to a game for even 5 10 15 years later and you know why
