Saw this game on a youtube playthrough and thought I'd give it a go. Happy to say that I'm hooked on the game to anticipate updates! Different buildings and renewable resources would be nice, but I've read some of the suggestions already talking about that stuff...so instead I'll make some town management system suggestions!
1. Belief systems don't feel special or significant. Sure it's nice to have most of the town converted to your faith, but none of the belief systems feel particularly special from one another. Perhaps different religions will have different bonuses for the population as well as drawbacks in the future? I have a feeling the devs are going to expand this in the future, so hopefully it will get more interesting then.
2. Slavery could be more than just private citizens nabbing unemployed people. For example, you could have slavery as a punishment (instead of criminals just sitting in prison possibly starving to death, why not put them to work?). You could have slavery as short term, long term or permanent sentences. Then when you legalize slavery, you could have new buildings unlocked to house the slaves/slave workplaces. Allowing slavery could change the dynamics of your settlement's economy, allowing your citizens to focus on more intelligent pursuits and of course lead to a whole bunch of different dilemnas.
3. Creating a hierarchy in your town! I don't mind running around as the leader, but it would be cool to also have lieutenants and trusted subordinates to execute your will. Different lieutenants could give different bonuses, depending on if you use propaganda as opposed to brute force or something in the middle. Plus deciding who gets the nice housing, food and other luxuries as a reward for one's loyalty or because they share the same belief system would be interesting to play out. Creating hierarchy could possibly be done through a citizenship system: e.g. citizen, permanent resident, traveller, slave You could have the choice to share everything equally too, but I really...really want to build a post-apocalyptic kingdom in the wasteland.
4. Different uniforms for different jobs and places in the town hierarchy.
